Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit: In medicine Time is essence and keeping this in mind the ICU was started in 2004. The ICU/HDU offers comprehensive critical care to serious patients stabilizing them before referring to tertiary hospitals in Mombasa if needed. Life-saving equipments like cardiac monitors, Oxygen delivery systems, ventilators, defibrillators, pulse oximeters, suction machines, and ECG are available to the doctors to help them in patient management. To its credit the ICU has saved several lives over the course of the last 5 years and is continuing to do so. The hallmark of the ICU was the successful Thrombolysis of a 36-year old man carried out in the first year of its inception. |
